How to install the Gamify App
Installation steps
- Go to Settings.
- Open Apps.
- Search for Gamify.
- Click Install.
- Click Activate.
Installing creates the app's own tables and seeds a working configuration: a 20-level curve,
a starter set of scoring rules, 13 trophies and the current season. Nothing else in your workspace
is modified.
After activating
- Open Gamify from the games-console icon in the topbar, next to the
search button. The Arcade page is your own hub.
- Go to Settings → Gamify to review the configuration. The defaults are
deliberately safe, but three settings are worth a decision up front:
- Leaderboard visibility — full public board, top N plus your own rank,
teams only, or private.
- Season length — monthly or quarterly.
- Penalties — on or off, and the per-season penalty cap.
- Task wagers — off by default, and it is worth leaving it off
until you have decided. This is the one setting that lets the game move real work:
two colleagues can each put up an open task or ticket, and the loser takes on the
winner's. Both must see the specific item and agree first, and every acceptance is
recorded, but it still changes who is doing what. Read the best-practices article before
enabling it.
- Go to Settings → Gamify → Backfill history and run the backfill.
This replays the last 90 days of real activity so the leaderboard is not empty on day one.
It grants positive XP only — nobody is retroactively penalised — and it can be
undone in one click.
- Review the scoring rules under Settings → Gamify → Scoring rules and
adjust XP values, daily caps and which rules are active.
Permissions
Gamify adds two role permissions, set under Settings → Roles:
- Manage gamification — configure rules, seasons and levels, and void
ledger entries. Administrators always have this.
- View the team leaderboard — see other people's ranks.
Scheduled tasks
Gamify hooks into the standard NIZU cron. Make sure your workspace cron job is running so that
seasons roll over automatically and streaks stay current.
Uninstalling
Uninstalling Gamify from Settings → Apps removes all of its tables, including
the XP ledger. Nothing in the rest of your workspace is affected.
