Settings has been reorganised into ten groups whose names say what is inside them: Workspace, Appearance, People & access, Client portal, Sales & finance, Clients & leads, Projects & work, Communication, Connections and Apps. The two groups nobody could define, App Settings and Setup, are gone.
Settings now opens on a home page showing every group at once, instead of dropping you into one form with the rest collapsed. Each group also has its own page listing everything it holds.
A search box in Settings finds any setting by name, including settings added by an App. Type three letters and go straight to the page — no need to know which group it is in.
Everything that changes how the workspace looks is together under Appearance: branding, interface options, the sign-in screen, the sidebar menu, the top menu, the footer and the mobile app icon. Five of those screens previously had no entry in the Settings menu at all — they were hidden tabs inside General.
New Workspace → System status page: when the cron job last ran, the link and command to run it, and which version this workspace is on. The cron page had no menu entry before and could only be reached by typing its address.
New Communication → Channels page gathering the ways a notification physically reaches someone: Pusher, Slack, and the channels added by Apps such as Telegram, Microsoft Teams and WhatsApp.
Settings → Appearance has a new Sign-in screen page where you choose what the sign in and sign up pages show behind the form: your background image, nothing at all, or an animation.
46 animated backgrounds to pick from, grouped by sector: Waves, Low waves, Paper plane, Company name in 3D, City, Synapsis, World map dots, Lonely traveller, Blue sphere, Break mold, Vortex, Paper cut, 3D title, E-commerce, OrderLemon WhatsApp, WhatsApp, Marketing, Horeca, Fast food, Hotels, Holidays, Booking, Global logistics, Automotive, Shipping, Maritime, Rail and train transport, Air and voyages, Energy, Mechanical engineering, Architecture, Blueprint grid, Rent and sale housing, IT consultant, IT SaaS, Telecommunications, VoIP, Cyber security, AI, Government, HR, Head hunting, Veterinary, Veterinary poly, Ophthalmology and Dentist.
Industry and property gains Blueprint grid: a still sheet of blue drawing paper, ruled and lightly grained.
A new Marketing and creativity section with two backgrounds built from your App title: Paper cut, where each letter peels like cut paper, and 3D title, chunky carved letters that bounce.
Three more: Blue sphere, a cloud of points breathing on the surface of a slowly turning globe; Break mold, a glowing sphere passing through a stack of neon walls that open to let it through; and Vortex, a tunnel lined with your App title turning past the camera.
Health care gains Veterinary poly: a bear, a deer, a cat and a wolf built from coloured triangles, each one springing into the next.
Lonely traveller: a small round ship hovering in a drifting starfield, looking about and blinking, kept clear of the login box.
World map dots: the continents drawn as thousands of points that fly in from nowhere, settle into place and drift as the view pans slowly across them.
Synapsis: luminous green tendrils drifting across a near-black field, drawn one particle at a time.
City: an isometric city of pale towers that rebuilds itself into a new skyline every few seconds.
Two more light backgrounds: Paper plane, a paper aeroplane turning gently on an open sky, kept on the left so the login box never hides it; and Company name in 3D, which raises your own company name in carved letters in the space above the login box, sized to whatever room the screen has.
A second abstract background, Low waves: a field of points rippling across the lower half of the screen, drawn on the graphics card.
The Architecture background is new artwork: a three-dimensional modern house, glass and concrete with a pool, that leans towards your pointer. It replaces the flat blueprint drawing.
The Waves background is new artwork: layered ribbons in blue and green that drift and breathe across a deep blue field, replacing the small wave strip that used to sit at the bottom of the sign in page.
The Global logistics background is the interactive amCharts world map: a slowly turning globe in coffee tones with supply routes flowing between producing, processing and consuming countries.
Every animation is previewed live on that page, at the real size in a large preview and side by side in the gallery, so you can see exactly what visitors get before you save.
Updates
Settings pages moved to where you would look for them: expense categories now sit with the rest of the money in Sales & finance, leave types and the attendance IP rules sit with the team in People & access, public pages and privacy sit with the Client portal, and custom fields sit with the Workspace.
IP restriction is now called Attendance rules, because that is what it does: it lists the addresses staff may clock in from. It was never a login control. Modules is now called Features.
Google Calendar and email piping moved into Connections, alongside reCAPTCHA, Google Drive, GitHub, Bitbucket, TinyMCE and Peppol, so every service you connect with a key is in one place. Events and Support tickets keep a line telling you whether the connection is on and where to change it.
Apps now say which group their settings belong to, so an App that adds a message channel appears under Communication and one that adds a sign-in method appears under People & access, instead of all of them landing in the same list.
The Settings entry in the left menu opens the Settings home rather than the old General form.
The moving waves at the bottom of the sign in page are no longer forced on every workspace. They are now one of the animations you can choose, and they stay selected if you were already using them.
The sign in background image and the switch that turns it on moved into the new Sign-in screen page, so everything about the login screen is in one place.
Backgrounds are switched off on phones and for visitors whose device asks for reduced motion. Those visitors see the plain theme colour, which keeps the login page fast and calm on mobile.
The animations are drawn as scalable graphics, so they stay sharp on any screen size or aspect ratio and need no extra downloads. Global logistics is the exception: it uses the amCharts mapping library, which is served from your own workspace rather than an outside address, and is only downloaded when that background is the one you picked.
The new screens are translated into every language the platform ships with.
Fix
The AI entry in Settings never highlighted and its group never opened when you were on that page. Fixed.
Fixed the sign in and sign up background flickering when you moved the mouse. The login card had the app's frosted-glass blur on it, which made the browser re-blur the whole moving background on every mouse move. The card is solid white, so the blur was never visible in the first place, and it is now switched off on those two pages.
Deprecated
The Settings page called General no longer exists. Its fields are now Appearance → Branding, and the old address still takes you there.
The Show background image in signin page switch is gone. Its setting is still kept in sync behind the scenes, but Appearance → Sign-in screen is now the place to change it.
