# How to install Appointments > On activation Appointments creates its own tables (services, provider schedules, holidays, bookings, payments and calendar connections) (Apps: Appointments) - Page: https://dashboard.nizu.io/knowledge_base/view/257-how-to-install-appointments - Part of: [Knowledge base](https://dashboard.nizu.io/knowledge_base/llms.txt) on NIZU — https://dashboard.nizu.io/llms.txt - Updated: 2026-10-25T11:50:03Z ## How to install Appointments 1. Go to **Settings**. 2. Open **Apps**. 3. Search for **Appointments**. 4. Click **Install**. 5. Click **Activate**. On activation Appointments creates its own tables (services, provider schedules, holidays, bookings, payments and calendar connections), registers its five email templates, adds **Appointments** to the staff sidebar and seeds sensible default settings. Your public booking page is live immediately at `/booking` on your workspace domain. Nothing below is required to take a first booking but a workspace with no services has nothing to offer, so start with Step 2. ### Step 1 give people access (required for non-admins) Administrators can already see everything. Everyone else needs permission. 1. Go to **Settings → Roles** and edit a role (or a single user's permissions). 2. Find the **Appointments** section. Switch on **Access the App** this is the master switch, and nothing else in the App works without it. 3. Add the rest as needed: access the dashboard, add and edit appointments, edit provider hours, add or edit services, manage holidays, record payments, and open the settings. 4. Save. ### Step 2 set your opening hours 1. Open **Appointments → Settings** and choose the **Opening hours** tab. 2. Set **Day starts at** and **Day ends at** the window every provider follows unless they override it. 3. Set **Time between slots** in minutes. This is how often a new start time is offered, not how long an appointment lasts (each service carries its own duration). 4. Pick your **Closed on** days the days of the week you never take bookings. 5. Save. ### Step 3 add the services you sell 1. Open **Appointments → Services** and click **Add service**. 2. Give it a **title** and a short **description** both appear on the public booking page. 3. Set the **duration** in minutes. This decides how much of the diary one booking consumes. 4. Set a **price**, or leave it at zero for a free service. Optionally tick **Payment required to book** to make this one service insist on payment even when payment is optional elsewhere. 5. Choose the **assigned providers** the team members a client may pick for this service. A service with no provider assigned cannot be booked. 6. Leave the **status** as *active* and save. ### Step 4 set each provider's own hours (optional) 1. Open **Appointments → Provider Hours**. 2. Click a provider to open their week. 3. Leave a day on **Company Default** to follow the workspace hours, or set that day's own start and end time or mark it unavailable. 4. Save. ### Step 5 block your holidays (optional) 1. Open **Appointments → Holidays** and click **Add holiday**. 2. Pick the date and give it a name. That date stops being bookable for every provider. ### Step 6 online payments (optional) Configure the gateway *first*, then switch it on here. Appointments does not ask for API keys of its own. 1. For Stripe: fill in **Settings → Payment Methods → Stripe** as you would for invoices. For Mollie: install the **Mollie Payment Gateway** App and enter its API key there. 2. Open **Appointments → Settings → Payments** and switch on **Let clients pay for a booking online**. 3. Tick the gateways you want to offer. A gateway with no credentials is not offered to clients even when ticked. 4. Choose **when a booking must be paid**: before it is confirmed, or whenever the client wants. 5. Set **how long an unpaid slot is held** in minutes. After that the booking is released and the time goes back on sale. 6. Optionally switch on **approve the booking as soon as it is paid**, and set the **currency** (it falls back to the workspace default). 7. If you use a separate Stripe, copy the **webhook URL** shown on this tab into your Stripe dashboard. 8. Save. ### Step 7 notifications (optional) 1. Open **Appointments → Settings → Notifications**. 2. Leave **emails** on unless you have a reason not to. 3. Switch on **reminders** and set how many minutes before the appointment the reminder should go out. 4. To alert your team instantly on every new booking, install the **Telegram Notification** App and then switch on the Telegram option here. 5. The wording of all five emails is edited in **Settings → Email Templates → Appointments**. ### Step 8 calendar sync (optional) 1. Register an OAuth application: in the **Google Cloud console** for Google Calendar, and/or the **Microsoft Entra portal** for Outlook. Use the exact redirect URI printed on the settings tab. 2. Open **Appointments → Settings → Calendars**, switch calendar sync on, and paste each provider's Client ID and Client Secret. Save. 3. Each staff member then opens **Appointments → Calendar Sync** and connects *their own* account. Connecting authorises whichever account is signed in to that browser, so make sure it is the right one. ### Step 9 brand the booking page 1. Open **Appointments → Settings → Booking page**. 2. Set the **name** and **brand colour** shown to clients. 3. Copy the public **link** from that tab and publish it on your website, in your email signature, in a QR code. ### Requirements - At least one **active service** with at least one **assigned provider**. Without both, the booking page has nothing to show. - The platform **cron job** running, for reminders, releasing unpaid slots and retrying failed calendar syncs. - For payments: working Stripe credentials in the core payment methods, and/or the Mollie Payment Gateway App configured. - For calendar sync: an OAuth app per provider you want to support, and a publicly reachable workspace URL so the provider can redirect back. The Google Calendar scope is a sensitive scope, so a production Google app must be verified by Google before more than a handful of test users can connect. - For Telegram alerts: the Telegram Notification App installed and configured. ### Uninstalling Deactivating the App removes the sidebar entry and takes the public booking page offline. Your bookings, services and payment records stay in the database, so re-activating brings everything back as it was.
